A month from now, a new generation Nintendo handheld device would be released. Called the Nintendo DSi, Japan would have the first glimpse of it come November 1. This new device is a revamped version of its predecessor, the Nintendo DS. It would have all the usual goodies – plus a few more yummy updates. The new Nintendo DSi would have a built-in internet browser, two cameras, and a larger screen.
What’s more, Nintendo is looking to open up an online store, similar to Apple’s iTunes. They will call theirs the DSi Shop, where you can get this cool new device plus several game titles and applications. The DSi is set to be sold at $180, only $20 more than the old Nintendo DS. In the US though, when it gets to be released there, it would only cost a mere $130.
The DSi will have a screen size of 3.25 inches, which is better than the 3-inch screen of DS. The two cameras are also welcome additions to the gadget. They will capture images at 0.3 Mega pixels. The cameras are placed on the inner and outer part of the gaming device. Also, the DSi will be able to support an external SD card with a maximum memory capacity of 2GB. The new one will also be lighter and thinner than its predecessor.
The DSi will be able to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi. When you buy the device from the DSi Shop, you will have bonus points worth 1,000. And you can use those to buy software and additional accessories for your new gadget, which are also sold at the store for a corresponding number of points.
The release of this new gaming device is in anticipation with the evolution of the iPhone 3G as another gaming platform.
