Netflix, the online leader to movie and DVD rentals, partnered recently with Starz Entertainment to forward their online marketing prowess. With the partnership, Starz Play is now offered to all Netflix subscribers as well. Netflix currently has distribution deals with film and TV giants such as Disney-ABC and CBS.
Netflix is looking to dominate the IPTV market. They want to provide internet access to TV and vice versa. With this recent partnership, subscribers will now have access to more than 2,500 more movies and movie services coming straight from Starz Play. And it isn’t just a simple access – Netflix is providing unlimited access to all their loyal subscribers.
Add Starz Play to the current deals Netflix has with ABC and CBS, the company’s online video offering is now streaming with valuable content to their viewers. This expansion is seen to provide Netflix another good boost in the online TV market. Netflix is also offering DVD’s sent through mail and they will be continuing to provide that service.
The IPTV services currently offered by Netflix, along with their other competitors, are still in its infancy stages though. But considering the current trend in the market, the industry is set to increase by more than half in the next few years. But with that development, Netflix can expect stiffer competition in the future.
Netflix is currently battling it out with Amazon and Apple. Amazon’s video-on-demand service is very popular these days too. However, Netflix’s response to the competition is their exclusive Xbox Live membership, the Roku set-top box, and movie streaming via Blu-ray disc, among others.
To be a Netflix subscriber, you need to have a broadband connection, a device that connects to the internet, and a compatible video player to access all your videos.
