Vista has been released for more than a year now and its efficiency and functionality is yet to be proven. But as with any operating system, the newest one would require at least 6 months worth of test runs on the live market before it can be deemed elemental. No operating system is expected to do well right after its release.
Much were the raves for Microsoft Vista when it was first released. However, a lot of problems were encountered along the way. After several tries, it was found out that Vista doesn’t work with most applications. Users need a load of drivers that are yet to be created. Furthermore, there are glitches with the operating system that has to be fixed very soon.
After almost two years of being sold in the market, users are also complaining of the sluggishness of their Vista-powered computers, especially when shutting down and starting up. Sometimes, laptop users even have to reseat the battery of their device before it would run smoothly as it should.
These instances made people wonder – will Windows Vista suffer the same fate as Windows Millennium? The fear of computer users being stuck with Vista is imminent that they wrote a letter to Microsoft begging them not to discontinue their much stable and reliable operating system, Windows XP.
Big corporations are not yet ready to move to Vista, so to speak. Not even the team up of Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates could convince them to do so. The reported $300 million worth of advertising strategy of Microsoft to entice people to switch to Vista should have been used to improve the software instead.
Even Microsoft’s known partners in the industry, such as HP and Lenovo, are sidestepping from Vista. Hewlett Packard is trying to create a Linux-based system that would allow users to use their computers to play DVD’s and audio files without booting up their computers to the Windows operating system. As for Lenovo, their commitment to improve Vista is always there. But inside their offices, they would rather use XP as their main operating system.
